Mary Sette is a writer/director, film photographer & videographer from a small, terrible town in the armpit of New Jersey. She is currently in pre-production on love is a dog. play dead, a coming-of-age body horror short film shot on 16mm.

Her short film, HOT TODDY, a murder mystery starring Anna Seregina, Atsuko Okatsuka, & Katrina Davis, was named Programmer’s Pick at Shonda Rhimes’ SeriesFest; it went on to screen at Outfest LGBTQ+ Film Festival, Montclair Film Festival, Rhode Island International Film Festival, Brooklyn Film Festival, & many more. 

Her scripts have been shortlisted by Sundance Institute, Hedgebrook Screenwriting Lab, Warner Bros. Television Writers' Workshop & Austin Film Festival. She has been a mentee in both Women in Animation adult animation and Women in Film for writing and directing.

She has served as a script consultant, script coordinator, writer’s assistant, and director of development in independent film. Some companies she’s worked with include Disney Channel, Digomind Productions, Dancing Atoms Studio, Unreal Engine, Comedy Bang! Bang!, Snapchat, & Partizan Entertainment.

In addition to filmmaking, Mary is an accomplished illustrator and graphic designer showcasing her work at premier international comic festivals including the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, LA Zine Festival at The Broad, & Small Press Expo.  She has attended St. Nell's Writing Residency, CalArts Animation Residency & SAW’s Graphic Novel Intensive. 

Mary received her MFA from USC's John Wells Division of Writing for Screen and Television and a Bachelor's Degree from The George Washington University in English and Creative Writing.
